Deep Purple Mk8  New Album *updated 22.05.05*
Deep Purple began recording their new studio album on April 1st 2005 at Mike Bradford's own studio, and were due to work on it for much of the month. The writing sessions from earlier in the year mean that everyone was primed, and Mike says they were planning a couple of longer songs to showcase the band instrumentally a little more. The new studio album is coming along well, with twelve basic tracks now recorded by mid-May. Ian Gillan is taking a break and will complete the vocals by mid-June, before Bradord gets down to the mix. Some of the songs are quite lengthy too. Bradford responded to fan questions recently: "To my ears, this album has a great classic Deep Purple sound, without trying to re-write a classic song. Steve Morse and Don Airey have really worked together to make that great guitar-organ combination sound that drove the early records.

Deep Purple Mk1-6       Burn - The Ultimate Critical Review DVD *22.04.05*

Classic Rock Productions have announced another dodgy DVD, this time tackling Deep Purple Mk 3. Please be aware that although they are promising interviews with the band, none of the Deep Purple clips or audio material on this title has been cleared by Deep Purple (Overseas) Ltd. And if their past efforts are any guide, the material will be taken from poor quality VHS tapes. As before we advise you approach with extreme caution, or better wait for the official archive DVDs (the first of which is now in production). Deep Purple Mk1-6        Tony Blair *13.04.05*
While we plan to stay fully clear of the UK general election on the site (nobody gets my vote until they renationalise railways and buses, tax 4X4s, second and third cars higher, put the top tax rate up but graduate the increments more, enforce mobile free train coaches, stop companies exporting call centre jobs, leave hospitals and schools to be run by people who work in them, etc etc. - grumpy old DTB editor), a recent story in the Mail On Sunday claims Tony Blair (pictured left in 1971-72) and some of his fellow pupils dodged out of boarding school to catch Deep Purple at the Edinburgh Odeon in March 1970. Which shows some knowledge of the rock scene, especially as they were still an underground act at the time. SR #60095

At the moment there are too many songs for a single cd, but not enough for a double, so more shows may be recorded in 2005. "Mistreated" will apparently be performed on the next tour! A release for Donington 1990 (yep, 1990 not 1983) on DVD is also being discussed. For more info visit www.whitesnake.com. Paul Harrison #900197 (thanks also to John Derry)

Other News, Glenn Hughes ,  UK Tour Kicks Off  *13.02.05*
Glenn Hughes' UK tour got under way at JB's, Dudley on February 11th. Dave Hopwood has sent us this report: "Glenn and his band came on stage at 10:30 and gave a solid set of numbers new and old opening with the title track of the new album "Soul Mover". Glenn is a superb showman, his voice and energy levels are quite phenomenal. The inter song chat was laden with several references to his drug filled past, he really does seem to have seen the light and acknowledged the error of his ways and this in turn has provided the inspiration behind several songs,"Land Of The Livin" being a prime example. For me the highlight of the night was saved until last with a rip roaring rendition of "Burn". Cheers Glenn, Hope the rest of the tour goes well, Dave Hopwood, Telford." MK#90190
