Hughes Thrall CD reissue

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

"For anybody who hasn't got this album on CD, then we can recommend the new transfer. I played it up against the original CD transfer issued by Epic many years ago, and it sounds distant and slightly muddy in comparison to the new one.

The new remaster seems to have been done with a light touch, clearing away the haze without pushing the volume too much for the sake of a trendy (and one would suspect largely non-existent) young audience, so the label are to be applauded for that. Plus you get a nice detailed package and two bonus cuts in the form of two demos from different stages of the follow up album (both of which are explained so you know exactly what they are). In fact all that's missing from this CD are the stripes from Glenn's tank top on the back due to over-enthusiastic airbrush work! Lose just one house point for pulling out a quote about Tommy Bolin's death and slapping it on page two. That's not what this album is about."
