Glenn Hughes is a guest vocalist on former Uriah Heep keyboard player Ken Hensley’s new studio album, Blood On The Highway. Deleted for some time, the Geoffrey Downes album Vox Humana from 1995 has just been reissued. It is of interest because Glenn Hughes guests on just one track, an excellent reinterpretation of Downes' Buggles hit Video Killed The Radio Star. It sounds a naff idea, but it's really very good (and much better than the original). dpas mail order will be adding this back onto their catalogue, it's been out of print for some years.

The acoustic solo shows Glenn played in Australia in June 2006 have been mixed for CD and DVD (imaginatively titled Live In Australia), and features four Deep Purple covers. Glenn's players were JJ Marsh on guitar and Lachlan Doley on keyboards, plus a string quartet. Numbers to be included on the release are: Coast to Coast, I Found A Woman, This Time Around, Nights In White Satin, Last Mistake, This House, Frail, The Divine, This Is How I Feel, Whiter Shade Of Pale, Mistreated, Soul Mover, Gettin' Tighter and You Keep On Moving. To this has now been added footage from Glenn's show in Rome in July 2007, and a Music For The Divine documentary plus three promo videos from that album. It is shipping now from dpas mail order. News on the tour and a review of one of the shows can be found below (dated 20.06.06)The DVD was due out a month early in Australia, and on both PAL and  NTSC formats. It's a double disc. This title is at last being issued in Europe, as either a DVD or a CD, both with identical track listings. However the DVD does NOT have the bonus material on the import version dpas mail order are supplying. We will however stock the CD in case anyone fancies that, and it is due out in late November.

Glenn is to perform 'An Evening with Glenn Hughes' on 7th November at  the Kampereio Theatre in Ioannina, Greece. This date is prior to the full band dates in Greece later that same week. The evening will consist of a solo acoustic set, Q+A's with the fans, etc.

The new Glenn Hughes compilation titled - This Time Around / Anthology 1970 / 2007 is due out at the end of August. It can be pre-ordered at dpas mail order. What makes this a little different is that it takes in his entire career, kicking off back in his Trapeze days, and running through to his very latest solo album, with Deep Purple and various side-projects all covered across a total of 29 tracks on a double CD.

We've just seen an advance copy and as well as coming in a smart slipcase, a detailed booklet with notes from Glenn, it now includes two previously unissued tracks as well. Justine, a demo, and This Time Around recorded live in Kiev in 2007.

Glenn Hughes was due to play a Classics In Rock event in Rotterdam, Friday October 6. 2006 singings classic tracks backed by a full orchestra.The October show was cancelled, and has been rescheduled for March 23 2007, also in Rotterdam, Holland, while Glenn is in Europe for his (also rescheduled) UK tour. Italian guitarist Matt Filippini who released the Moonstone CD recently (see below) with Glenn guesting is doing some live shows in Italy in May, and Glenn will be playing on some of the shows. The plan is to have a special Deep Purple / Trapeze songs set. At last, the three Phenomena albums - out of print for years - are to be available once again in a nice digipak 3CD set, with a lot of bonus tracks. GLENN HUGHES is on discs one and two (Phenomena 1 1985 and Dream Runner 1987), along with several guests from associated musicians like Mel Galley, Neil Murray, Cozy Powell and Don Airey. Glenn Hughes is playing two British shows in October, on 28th with his traditional warm-up at JB's in Dudley, and finally 31st at The Roadmender, Northampton. The set will be largely based around his recent solo albums, with Deep Purple covers down to a minimum. The packaging is very poor (as it is on all this series, which also includes more reworkings of the Gillan solo material) but if you missed the now deleted originals of these two Glenn Hughes rarities, then it's a good way to catch up. The Hughes / Iommi collaboration is due out mid-July. Titled FUSED, the 10 track CD also features drummer Kenny Aronoff. Because of Iommi's participation in the Ozzfest this summer, he and Glenn have delayed the live tour until the end of 2005. Dates to follow. Iommi has been talking about the new album on his website, where you can now also hear the lead track 'Dopamine' in full. We've heard that the CD has a bonus track only in Japan, LET IT DOWN EASY. Some people have questioned the picture quality on the new Glenn Hughes DVD. In fact this is not a fault, but the result of computer video effects - high contrast filters, dropping frames to give slow-motion feel, etc. Do not adjust your set! But do wonder at the production company for doing it...On the up side the audio CD sounds excellent, bit short though - just over 40 mins per disc (+ 2 studio tracks, one of which is a bonus track from the Japanese edition of 'Songs In The Key Of Rock'), and many of the tracks done on the UK tour are missing so it ends up a bit Purple heavy. Very powerful Medusa and a rockin' Gettin Tighter. The Chillis drummer makes a big difference. Full review in DTB 57.
