DPAS LIVE REVIEW

Pacaembú Stadium, São Paulo, Brazil
20th September 2003

A fantastic night !!!!! The band were all present and correct at the Pacaembu stadium (10 minutes from the hotel) by 11 pm, only going on stage at 00:20 am (after Sepultura's set) to be greeted by a crowd of 35,000 people who sang along with all of their songs (including those from Bananas) throughout the entire show.

Somewhere in the middle of the show Ian Gillan came up to me and said: "... man what amazing people, look at the energy!" With a hand cam, Gillan then filmed some of the show from the stage. The set list was the same one as Rio, though the drum solo in Hush seemed a bit longer. 21st September is the last concert of the Kaiser Music Fest, in Belo Horizonte (30 minutes flight from São Paulo).

Here's a picture taken backstage in São Paulo... when Ian Gillan saw my t-shirt, he said "where did you find that???" I told him that I had done an interview with Tony Iommi in Manchester back in November '95. While talking about the Born Again era, I mentioned that for many years I had been looking for the Born Again tour book and official tour t-shirt. Tony said: "Well, I´m not sure about the tour book but I have some Born Again t-shirts at home in Birminghan. Give me your address and I'll send you one.. 3 weeks later I received the t-shirt from Tony. I only wear it for special shows like Deep Purple in Sao Paulo!
