JON LORD was a founder member of DEEP PURPLE. Prior to joining the group he had done session work during the sixties, as well as playing in a groups, foremost of which were THE ARTWOODS who cut and album and singles.
LORD did several albums outside DEEP PURPLE, involving orchestras and rock musicians, such as WINDOWS, SARABANDE and GEMINI SUITE. In 1976 he formed PAICE ASHTON LORD, then joined WHITESNAKE. He played with them until DEEP PURPLE reformed in 1984, and stayed with the reunion until 2001 when he decided to spend less time touring.
LORD did a few solo works while with WHITESNAKE and during the reunion and has continued to record and tour since leaving the band. His recent solo albums PICTURED WITHIN and BEYOND THE NOTES have been highly acclaimed and new orchestral works are also in the pipeline.
