Jon Lord - Boom Of The Tingling Strings, 2003

"I thought you might find it useful to have fuller info on the Brisbane concert:

The Queensland Orchestra, (Paul Mann, conductor; Michael Kieran Harvey, piano)

Brisbane Town Hall Programme:

Britten: Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra
Jon Lord: Boom of the Tingling Strings (World premiere)
Malcolm Arnold: English Dances Set1
Vaughan Williams: Fantasy on a theme of Thomas Tallis
Elgar: In The South

Jon's new piece is a continuous structure lasting some 34 minutes, but in four distinct sections. Although it is not, strictly speaking, a piano concerto as such, it contains a substantial virtuoso part for solo piano, which is being played at the premiere by one of Australia's most renowned virtuoso pianists, Michael Kieran Harvey. Jon will be in attendance at the performance.

The piece will receive its European Premiere with the Luxembourg Philharmonic (also conducted by myself) at the end of May 2003."

Paul Mann
